Aircraft

What flies out of Dubrovnik.

Seven categories cover effectively everything that departs the Adriatic coast, from a thirty-minute island sector to a non-stop run to the Gulf. Which one suits a given trip depends on the runway at both ends, the number of passengers, the luggage and the date.

The figures below are typical for each category. Individual aircraft vary, and the options you receive state the actual aircraft rather than a category average.

Piston Twin at a European airport — illustrative

Piston Twin

The smallest category worth putting on a short Adriatic sector, and on some of the island fields the only one that fits. Modest speed and modest range, but it turns a long drive plus a ferry into a flight measured in minutes. This is the type we would look at first for Brač or a short hop across to Montenegro.

Typically seats
up to 5
Typical range
1,300 km
Typical cruise
380 km/h

Types in this category: Piper Seneca V, Beechcraft Baron

Turboprop at a European airport — illustrative

Turboprop

Turboprops give up jet cruise speed in exchange for shorter field performance and better economics on sectors under a couple of hours. On the Adriatic that combination covers most of what a jet would be wasted on — Zagreb, Venice, Vienna, and any island field where runway length is the deciding factor.

Typically seats
up to 8
Typical range
2,000 km
Typical cruise
550 km/h

Types in this category: King Air 350, Pilatus PC-12

Very Light Jet at a European airport — illustrative

Very Light Jet

A jet cabin and jet speed for small numbers. Suits two to four passengers on a European sector where the point is the departure time rather than the cabin. Below its range limit it is often the most sensible aircraft on the ramp; above it, the next category up starts making the case.

Typically seats
up to 5
Typical range
2,000 km
Typical cruise
700 km/h

Types in this category: Citation M2, Phenom 100

Light Jet at a European airport — illustrative

Light Jet

The workhorse of European charter. From Dubrovnik it reaches most of central and western Europe in a single sector, with a cabin that holds up for the duration. When a request comes in without a preference, this is frequently the category the options come back in.

Typically seats
up to 7
Typical range
2,800 km
Typical cruise
750 km/h

Types in this category: Citation CJ2/CJ3, Phenom 300

Midsize at a European airport — illustrative

Midsize

Where the cabin starts to matter as much as the range. The sensible starting point for the longer north-western sectors — London, Paris, Amsterdam — and for groups that would be tight in a light jet.

Typically seats
up to 9
Typical range
4,600 km
Typical cruise
800 km/h

Types in this category: Citation XLS+, Learjet 60

Super Midsize at a European airport — illustrative

Super Midsize

Longer legs and a higher cruise. This is the category that opens the eastern Mediterranean and the edge of the Gulf without a stop, with cabin space sized for a full group and their luggage rather than one or the other.

Typically seats
up to 10
Typical range
6,100 km
Typical cruise
870 km/h

Types in this category: Challenger 350, Citation Longitude

Heavy Jet at a European airport — illustrative

Heavy Jet

Long-range aircraft for the sectors nothing else covers in one leg. Dubrovnik has the longest runway in Croatia and takes heavy types without a payload penalty, which is what makes a direct Gulf departure from the Adriatic coast realistic rather than theoretical.

Typically seats
up to 14
Typical range
10,000 km
Typical cruise
900 km/h

Types in this category: Falcon 900, Gulfstream G550, Global 6000

Not sure which category fits?

Leave the preference field alone. Send the route, the date and the number of passengers, and the options come back with the aircraft that actually suit the sector — including anything you had not considered.

Prefer a specific type because you have flown it before? Say so in the request and it is treated as the starting point.
